Perhaps 10 days after I first visited Alto Restaurant and Lounge on June 17, it has closed. I was looking forward to spending more time in the bar.
ESPN Zone in the Tabor Center will also close its doors, laying off 100 employees. And the Red Room on Capitol Hill closed some time ago.
In this recession, as in the previous one, Colorado felt the effects later than other parts of the country.
My thoughts are with all the employees who lost their jobs.

Far too many businesses survive on the edge where the owner or owners pay too little attention to break even points and expense sheets. During good times they expand too fast and spend too much instead of saving for times like now.
I think the only business that would apply to would be the ESPN Zone. As far as I know, the others were single businesses.
